Building Smart, Energy Efficient, Cost-Effective Structures
At Walmar Energy Performance Group, we help builders, industry professionals, commercial clients, and homeowners turn great ideas into great buildings. Drawing on 50+ years of design and build experience, we guide clients through every stage of the design and construction process—clarifying decisions, coordinating professionals, and optimizing for both performance and cost. Our mission is simple: to help you create the most energy efficient, highest quality structure possible, built with intention, expertise, and long-term value in mind.
Our Mission
Our Approach
We’ve spent decades designing and building energy-efficient structures and have seen firsthand what works and what doesn’t. Today, we use that experience to help others build better. Our approach blends proven building science with practical, real-world knowledge so your project performs efficiently without wasting money chasing diminishing returns.
Who We Work With
Builders looking to offer their clients higher-performing, more marketable homes without driving up costs.
Architects and designers interested in expanding their building-performance capabilities.
Developers and commercial clients seeking practical solutions that balance energy efficiency, durability, and budget.
Homeowners planning a custom home who want to make smart decisions early and avoid costly mistakes.
Example Projects
Performance matters most when it works in the real world. Our example projects show how building-science principles translate into measurable results across new construction, large custom homes, commercial buildings, and remodels. From a cost-conscious model house to large-scale and retrofit projects, these examples demonstrate that high performance is achievable, repeatable, and scalable.
Our Performance Philosophy
-
Every decision is evaluated based on how it helps a structure withstand the forces all buildings face, not on brand names or trends.
-
Proven principles guide every solution we evaluate, regardless of project size, climate, or budget.
-
We assess how effectively the building envelope controls air movement through and within the structure.
-
We evaluate how thermal conductivity is reduced across the entirety of the exterior assemblies, not just isolated components.
-
Assemblies must manage moisture and eliminate condensation risks in all climate types.
-
We account for how soil temperatures and the earth’s thermal mass contribute to performance based on site conditions and goals.
-
Solar orientation and radiant heat gain are considered as active contributors to performance, not afterthoughts.
No weak links allowed
Every principle matters. Ignoring one makes weaknesses elsewhere more apparent and undermines the whole system.
Product-agnostic by design
We aren’t tied to any specific product or manufacturer. But not everything works, and not all products are the same
Proven, not prescriptive
There isn’t only one way to build a high-performance structure, but there isn’t an infinite number either. We rely on envelope assemblies that have performed exceptionally for years, while thoughtfully evaluating alternatives when project specifics demand it.
Passive and Net Zero
We can help you get there. However, we believe in performance first. Our approach is to design and build to a high level of real-world performance before ever focusing on a label or certification. In some cases, pursuing Passive or Net Zero certification requires additional steps that are not always reflected in proportional energy cost savings. We prefer to reach the performance level first, then help our clients decide whether formal certification is worth pursuing based on their specific goals, budget, and location. Either way, we welcome the opportunity to discuss your project and determine the best path forward.
